  On Tuesday, January 26, 2010, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Hometown Grocery, in the Village of Barryton, for a report of a truck that smashed into the front of the store.  No one was injured in the vehicle or the store. The driver of the pickup told deputies that his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator. The building sustained structural damage.  

 On Thursday January 21, 2010, Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on the corner of 205th and 13 Mile Rd. Deputies say that a Big Rapids woman ran a stop sign and kept going until she smashed into a barn.  On Wednesday January 13, 2010, around 3:30 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to an accident on Northland Dr. and 14 Mile. Deputies determined that a 21-year-old woman from Big Rapids swerved to miss a deer and lost control. Her vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop.
