Truck Smashes Into Barryton Grocery Store
On Tuesday, January 26, 2010, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Hometown Grocery, in the Village of Barryton, for a report of a truck that smashed into the front of the store.
No one was injured in the vehicle or the store. The driver of the pickup told deputies that his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator. The building sustained structural damage.

Deputies say that a Big Rapids woman ran a stop sign and kept going until she smashed into a barn. The woman suffered minor injuries.

Mecosta County Sheriff News Snippets For December 17, 2009 Thru January 13, 2010 On Wednesday January 13, 2010, around 3:30 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to an accident on Northland Dr. and 14 Mile. Deputies determined that a 21-year-old woman from Big Rapids swerved to miss a deer and lost control. Her vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop. The woman was transported to Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview and treated for minor injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.
