Detectives from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office have been investigating the theft and sales of catalytic converters.
With the the help of the Michigan State Police from the Reed City post, Sheriff deputies were able to arrest three suspects that were in involved in the breaking and entering of Phil's Auto Parts, a crime that took place in late April of this year. The thieves took catalytic converters from the business so they could sell them.
The first suspect arrested in the case was 26 year old Alan Ray Miller of Rodney. Miller was also charged with a Parole Violation and was out on bond on an unrelated larceny charge at the time of his arrest. According to Detective Casey Nemeth of the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department, the 26 year old Miller is an habitual offender with prier crimes of "Armed Robbery and Larceny in a Building".
The second suspect arrested in the breaking and entering was Alan Miller's younger brother, 24 year old Robert William-Carlyle Miller of reed city. Sheriff Detectives say that Robert also has past run-ins with law enforcement as well. His past crimes consist of "Resisting and Obstructing Police and
Delivery/Manufacturing Marijuana" Robert was also out on bond for an unrelated larceny charge at the time of the arrest.
Both Miller brothers have been arraigned in The Mecosta County 77th District Court and are currently lodged at the Mecosta County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
The third suspect is a 22 year old Big Rapids woman, she is lodged at the Mecosta County Jail and will be arraigned sometime today.
