Motorcycle Deer Accident - Colfax Township

 Around 6:41 PM yesterday evening, Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies reported to a motorcycle deer accident in Colfax Township.

 According to Mecosta County Sheriff Deputy Jack Sutherby, a forty eight year old Big Rapids man was riding his motorcycle east on McKinley Rd. near 157th Ave. when he hit a deer as it was crossing the road.

 The Big Rapids motorcycle driver was transported by ambulance to the Mecosta County Medical Center and then onto Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids by helicopter for serious life threatening injuries.

 The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Mecosta EMS, Big Rapids Twp
Rescue and Colfax Fire Department.

 According to the Big Rapids Pioneer Newspaper the name of  the  man seriously injured in the motorcycle deer crash is 48 year old Steve Blankenship from Big Rapids. The Pioneer Newspaper website is at BigrapidsNews.com
