Seventeen Year Old From Big Rapids Drowns At Chippewa Lake

 Mecosta County - On July 29, 2008, A 17 year old Big Rapids man was drowning in the water at Chippewa Lake Public Access.

 According to Deputy Jared Christensen from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department, the seventeen year old young man from Big Rapids was drowning when a by-stander pulled him from the water.

 The Big Rapids teen who is in critical condition was transported to Mecosta County Medical Center and then to Butterworth in Grand Rapids.

 Deputies were assisted by Fork Township Rescue and Mecosta County EMS.

Update - According to a report from the Pioneer Newspaper, the young man Jacob Guerrero from Big Rapids did not make it, he died at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on Wednesday Afternoon.
