The Big Rapids Tractor Trailer Crash

Big Rapids - Clean up crews worked for several hours yesturday to clean and repair the mess that was made by a tractor trailer that crashed into the Mitchell Creek bridge taking out a utility poll and smashing into two trucks.



A traffic light control box was also distroyed by the water
tanker that was delivering water for the Ice Mountain plant.






The accident took place around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Maple and State Streets in Big Rapids.
The Pioneer Newspaper reported that the name of the man driving the tanker truck is 54 year old Henry Rozema of Baldwin, all three drivers and one passenger involved in the crash sufferd minor injuries and were treated at the Mecosta County Medical Center.

The other truck involved in the crash was a Mike's Windows Truck, this truck seemed to have collided right with the front of the the semi.

The Big Rapids police department is still investigating the cause of the crash.




Street workers used dirt to cover hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel that the water tanker spilled on the roadway.
