***On Tuesday, December 16, 2008, Big Rapids Department of Public Safety Officers responded to a complaint in the 400 block of South Michigan Ave.***According to a police log the father of one of the young men at the residence called the police to report that his son had been assaulted by his roommates.*** When Officers responded to the residence to take a report the young man refused to pursue the case.***Meanwhile, the roommates contacted the police department to give their sides of the story.***The young mans father then showed up from Lansing to move his son out of the residents.***While on scene the father allegedly confronted and threatened the roommates with a metal rod from a desk.***Now officers say everyone denies everything***The case was turned over to the city attorneys office for review.***Big Rapids .biz is your Big Rapids Michigan Online News Magazine.***Read more police logs in the Blotter section of the website.***

Lakeview Man Dies In Car Crash

 On Sunday November 9, 2008, around 6:24 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies responded to a car accident on 105th Ave. near 1 mile road in Hinton Township.
 
 Dale Hansen of Lakeview was north on 105th Ave. when he lost control of his car and hit a tree.
Hansen had 2 passengers in his vehicle at the time of the accident, Stephanie Ybabez from Montcalm County and Hansen were transported to Kelsey Memorial Hospital in Lakeview for injuries.

Hansen who sustained serious injuries died in the hospital on November 10, 2008. According to Sheriff Deputies alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
