Big Rapids MI - On Wednesday November 26, 2008, Jonathan Joseph Good of Lansing who was staying in the Mecosta County Jail awaiting trial for over 30 felony counts that include attempted murder and armed robbery, broke out of his jail cell through a fiberglass skylight and jumped off the jail houses 10 foot high roof as jail attendants yelled stop! stop!, Jonathan Good kept on going wearing nothing but underwear, rubber shoes and a white tee-shirt.
Jonathan ran about two blocks when he decided to stop and rest at an unlocked college frat house called the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity located at 116 North Stewart Ave., about a three minute walk from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department which is located at 225 South Stewart Ave. and is connected to the jail where Good was staying.
Because the college students were gone for Thanksgiving break, this made a perfect weekend hide out for Jonathan J. Good who was now being hunted by the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department , The Big Rapids Department of Public Safety and the Michigan State police. Using helicopters and tracking dogs the police searched vigorously for the convicted murderer as they went door to door and handed out flyer's and warned people that Jonathan good had escaped from jail.
On early Sunday morning after laying around for three days, watching TV and peeping out the upstairs window to see if Sheriff Deputies were on to him, Good then decided to rummage though the college student's personal belongings, taking clothing and other things, Jonathan Good then decided to take one of the student's bicycles and take a ride a few miles north of Big Rapids to steal a 1997 maroon Dodge Intrepid so he could drive down to Taylor Michigan to visit his aunt and brother, but first making a stop in Clinton County to visit a woman along the way.
Jonathan Good was just a few miles from Taylor when he was stopped by the Romulus Police Department. Jonathan laid on the ground spread eagle as he was being arrested said Sheriff John Sonntag in a news interview, Sonntag also told the news media that the faulty skylights in the jail cells would be replaced with some kind of tubing of some sort.
On Monday afternoon Jonathan Good was arraigned in the Mecosta County District Court for Escape Jail While Awaiting Felony Charges a four year felony, Good was denied bail and could face more charges later involving the breaking and entering and for stealing the car, in conjunction with the other 31 felony counts he was already facing, Good could also face a habitual offense enhancement charge.

Channel 8 Wood TV News from Grand Rapids did not waste any time making their way out in the snow so that they could get film footage of the house located about 367 yards away from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office , where escape fugitive Jonathan J. Good stayed in hiding for Thanksgiving break.
According to Channel 8 Wood TV News, Mecosta County Sheriff John Sonntag said that Jonathan Good was arrested by the Romulus Michigan Police with out incident. |
