Mecosta County Sheriff News Snippets For December 17, 2009 Thru January 13, 2010

 On Wednesday January 13, 2010, around 3:30 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to an accident on Northland Dr. and 14 Mile. Deputies determined that a 21-year-old woman from Big Rapids swerved to miss a deer and lost control. Her vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop. The woman was transported to Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview and treated for minor injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.

 On Tuesday January 5, 2010, around 11:00 p.m., Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at the 8 mile BP gas station in Mecosta Twp. After an investigation deputies determined that the business was broken into but the alarm scared off the suspect or suspects.  On Tuesday December 22, 2009, around 10:40 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to
a Mecosta Twp. home to investigate a shots fired complaint. Upon arrival Deputies discovered that a 74-year-old man fired 2 rounds inside of his house at three people. No one was injured in the shooting and the man was arrested and taken to the Mecosta County Jail where he was charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Murder.
