Mecosta County Sheriff News Snippets January 15th - 21st - 2010

 On Thursday January 21, 2010, Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on the corner of 205th and 13 Mile Rd. Deputies say that a Big Rapids woman ran a stop sign and kept going until she smashed into a barn. The woman suffered minor injuries.

 On Wednesday, January 20, 2010, around 7:41 a.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies investigated a car/school bus accident at the intersection of 80th Ave. and Cleveland Rd. in Martiny Twp. According to the report a Barryton woman driving a 1996 Ford ran a stop sign and smashed into a school Chippewa Hills school bus. The bus had 40 students on it, none of them were injured. The Barryton woman sustained minor injuries to her wrist and leg. She told deputies that she was distracted by her 7-year-old son. The woman was cited for a stop sign violation.

 On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office responded to an attempted break-in at Coocheez, located in Aetna Township. The suspect(s) were unable to gain entry.  The incident took place in the early morning hours after the business had closed.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office at (231)592-0150.

 On Saturday January 16, 2010, around 9:15 p.m., Mecosta County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Aetna Twp., where it was reported that a 28-year-old man was riding on the front of an ORV on private property. According to the report the driver was unable to see very well and got too close to a tree catching the mans foot between the ORV and the tree. He was taken by a private vehicle to the Mecosta County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

 On Friday January 15, 2010, around 2:40 p.m., the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a two vehicle accident on Northland Dr. near Golfview Rd. The drivers of both vehicles were transported by EMS to the Mecosta County Medical Center for non life- threatening injuries.
