The Figure Eight Demolition Derby

After arriving at the Mecosta County Fair and taking a few photos, I decided I would visit the Figure Eight Demolition Derby. This was an event hosted by a company called Unique Motor Sports. I entered the gate area to get into the show and was sticker shocked by the stern $10.00 fee that was being charged for admission. I thought I would turn on the charm a little and see if I could squeeze by, paying only $5.00. I think I would have had better luck with the woman on the right stamping hands, but the guy on the left collecting the money just wasn't buying it. He look at me like I just parachuted in from Mars or something.



This was acually a very enjoyible little show.

The first race started off with the smaller cars with the four cylender engines.



The next race six cylender cars were used.



The third race involved the more powerful eight cylender cars.



The cars would race around the small track in a figure eight motion.

Some cars would break down on the track.

Others would get stuck and they were not allowed to go in reverse.



Some cars would get smashed into by other cars.

The smaller cars did not seem to last as long.

The bigger cars were more fun to watch.

The Big Rapids Fire Department was there in case a car would catch on fire.

This car really seemed to have the jump.

In between races, this guy would come by and throw stuff at you.



All in all, these races were a lot of fun to watch.
