Michigander Bike Tour Makes The Big Rapids Pass

 On Tuesday July 15th, Large and small packs of bicycle riders made their way thru the streets and trails of Big Rapids and the surrounding areas. These folks were part of the Michigander Bike Tour that comes by once a year. The Bike tour this year ran from Sunday, July 13 - Friday, July 18, 2008. The bicycle riders started their trip in Muskegon Michigan and will ride to Traverse City Michigan.

 Riders that signed up for this tour had the option of riding the two day tour consisting of a thirty mile a day ride or the six or seven day tour which was about 275 miles. The two day tour package price was only $85.00 for Youths between the ages of 7-17, the adult package was only $95.00. The more serious bicyclists signed up for the six day tour were the package price was only $278.00 for youths and $298.00 for adults.

 This couple was riding their bikes on the tour thru the village of Stanwood when they found the shady shelter that they so desperately needed under this large maple tree.



This was a sag stop in Stanwood for the Michigander riders to take a break and get a fill of water. Volunteers for the Michigander have these sag stops setup approximately every 10 miles along the route.
