Kettlebell Sport Competition

Exciting things are continuing to happen at Club Liberty VIP Fitness in Big Rapids!

 Twenty of Big Rapids finest are training hard to prepare for the upcoming Kettlebell Competition at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival, in Columbus, OH this March.  This is a HUGE accomplishment for these participants as this is the first year that GS Kettlebell Sport has been recognized at this National Competition.  It is one of the most attended sporting events in country with approximately 165,000 visitors.

 Those competing include the owner of the downtown training studio, Liberty Gray.  Liberty has seen a boom in the rise of individuals wanting to compete in the sport.  Last July we had 8 clients who entered the ranks and took home numerous medals...now we’re seeing those numbers doubled!  A lot of couples are taking up the sport and it’s very exciting to see how through kettlebell training that even those with no sports background have literally changed their bodies and ideas of about what defines functional training. 

 Heading up the group training sessions are her husband Jerry Gray and Jenny Mossel (both IKFF certified Kettlebell Instructors) who are top athletes in their class based on their previous Nationals rankings. 
Also competing are several community members you may recognize, including Dr. Jeff Mossel, Jill/John Caskey, Marcia/Darin Cebulla, Steve/Julie Miller, Cheryl Kondziolka, Isabel Harris, Jesse Wright, Leah McLean, Mary Waldron, Nicole Totten, Nikki Jorgensen, Teri Hays, Corey Murphy and Todd Weber. These Gireviks (kettlebell practitioners) train not only for strength, but endurance as well. A kettlebell lift is based on one of 3 power lifting techniques and last for 10 minutes each round.   Liberty & Jenny will also be vying for Master of Sport, a title currently only held by 5 females in the United States.

 Club Liberty is one of the first female owned Kettlebell dedicated gyms in the nation.  The training philosophy taught by Liberty breaks the traditional mold for people who are confused about how to achieve true functional fitness.  The unique combination of Kettlebell Sport, Diet & Life Skills approach has proven very successful for everyone who has applied it.  Just ask any of the competitors above!
