Big Rapids Woman Shares A Tale Of Horror And Forgiveness

 In 1995, Kelly Quinn, left the small town of Big Rapids Michigan, to go to Nashville Tennessee. Her dreams were to pursue a country music career.

Kelly, who's father was the founder of "Quinn's Music Store" in Big Rapids, sat down with Big Rapids .biz, and told of how after living in Nashville for three years and recording four songs her dreams of music were then put on hold.

As aired on America's Most Wanted TV show: Quinn, explained to Big Rapids .biz, how she came home to her Edmonson Pike apartment in Nashville one night in 1998 and was ambushed by two strange men that were hiding inside. The men brutally raped and tortured Kelly at knife-point for several hours. Making matters worse, Kelly later learned that the two men who attacked her; were responsible for the rapes of several woman in the Nashville area.

It was not until later in 2002 when police discovered the identity of the two serial attackers. Luis Castanon was immediately pick up by the police, but Ruben Hernandez Martinez; fled the country and went to his homeland of Mexico.

"Castanon" had a jury trial where he was found guilty and sentenced to 60-years in prison. It took almost ten years for authorities to have "Ruben Hernandez Martinez" extradited from Mexico. After his return to face justice, Hernandez reached for a plea deal and pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated rape. On April 4, 2008, Nashville Circuit court Judge Steve Dozier, sentenced Martinez to 88 years in prison.

It was about that time, said Kelly Quinn, she was no longer going to be a victim. Quinn decided to use the power of faith and forgiveness on the two men who attacked and changed her life forever. She wrote a book about her experience and decided to share her tale of faith and forgiveness with anyone who desires to know. Quinn believes anyone who reads her book can experience the same healing as she has.
