Big Rapids Weekend Public Safety Blotter October 23-25-2009 Officers Investigate A Disorderly/Trespass

Friday October 23, 2009

 7:56 a.m., an 18-year old FSU student was killed when he crossed the street. He was hit by a Nissan going northbound on south State St.. The driver, a 19 year old FSU student, had the green light and the right of way. Still under investigation.

 At 7:56 a.m., a 2 vehicle accident took place on State and Ferris. A Ford ranger going northbound driven by 46 year old Stanwood woman hit the rear of a GMC Sierra that was driven by a 46 year old howard city woman. this is related to the above.

 At 12:50 p.m., officers respond to a 3 vehicle accident that took place on State and Sanborn. A 20-year old Byron Center woman rear-ended a GMC driven by a 71-year old Big Rapids man, who then was pushed into a Chevy being driven by a 48-year old Paris woman. The 20-year old Byron Center resident was cited for "vbsl" violation of the basic speed law.

 4:00 p.m., officer report to a fail to pay for gas complaint in the 800 block of N. State. Still under investigation.

 12:27 a.m., officers report to an assault in progress in the 400 Block of S. Warren. A 22-year old Lansing man stated that he had been sprayed in the face by mace. The suspect is a white with dark hair.  No further info.

 12:27 a.m., officers respond to a noise complaint in the 400 block of S. Michigan. A 21-year old tenant was given a citation. 

 1:05 a.m., officers investigate a Disorderly/Trespassing complaint in the 800 block of Watertower. A 33-year old Indiana woman advised officers she was currently "homeless". She and her 39-year old Redford Twp. male friend were causing a disturbance. The man subject was gone on officers arrival, the woman was asked to leave by the management and she did.

 1:02 p.m., officers respond to a minor in possession of alcohol complaint in the 700 block of Perry.  The woman suspect was gone on when officers arrived.

Saturday October 24, 2009

 6:53 a.m., a suspicious person was in the 800 block of Fuller. The Subject was standing by a building. When seen by the complainant he ran east toward sidewalk. No de scri ption of the subject.

 12:20 p.m., officers were on the scene of a civil dispute in the 1300 block of Catherine.

 12:57 p.m., PDA N. State and Williams N/A at press time

 7:18 p.m., officers respond to a civil - child custody in the 1800 block of Milton. The parent didn't return baby on time.

 3:41 p.m., officers report to a domestic in the 500 block of S. State St.. A 36-year old Big Rapids man was lodged at the county jail for a "domestic assault" charge.

 4:11 p.m., officers do a suspicious/assist in the 700 block of Perry.

 5:23 p.m., officers are investigating a "malicious destruction of property" complaint in the 1200 block of Colburn. 

 5:39 p.m., officers handle a walk in assault complaint, took place the night before - in the 300 block of S. Michigan. No suspects

 7:51 p.m., officers investigate a suspicious situation in the 100 block of Rust. People were knocking on the complainant's door. No suspects.
