Big Rapids Public Safety Weekend Police Blotter For April 9th to the 11th -2010

Friday April 9, 2010

 7:28 a.m., officers investigate a disorderly subject in the 500 block of S third Ave.

 11:05 a.m., officers respond to an accident on Michigan and Linden. An 80-year-old Big Rapids man failed to stop for a stop sign and smashed into a southbound vehicle and then a light pole snapping it in two. The vehicle he crashed into was driven by a 43-year-old man. The 80-year-old man was cited by officers.

 11:32 a.m., officers investigate a Larceny in the 400 block of S Michigan. Officers say someone stole the mailbox to the library, ripping the cross member right off the post. Officers also noted that a bike had been left at the library for a couple of weeks.

 12:36 p.m., officers make a traffic stop that led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Big Rapids man for driving without a license and possession of marijuana.

 12:57 p.m., officers arrest a 23-year-old Big Rapids man on two outstanding warrants.

 1:15 p.m., officers investigate a Domestic Assault that took place on 4/5/10 in the 500 block of N Michigan Ave.

 2:52 p.m., officers respond to an accident on State and Knollview.

 4:34 p.m., officers report to the 300 block of Linden to investigate a malicious destruction of property complaint.

 8:13 p.m., officers respond to the 700 block of Perry, where a 17-year-old beat up a juvenile. The 17-year-old was old lodged.

 10:31 p.m., officers investigate some noise in the parking lot in the 1800 block of Milton.

 12:20 a.m., officers check the well being of an intoxicated man who was planning to harm himself in the 300 block of Morrison.

 12:35 a.m., officer investigate a minor in possession of alcohol in the 700 block of Perry. An 18-year-old Evart woman was cited, and a 22-year-old Evart woman was also cited for furnishing the booze.

 1:22 a.m., officers investigate some noise on Elm and Ives. The Area was quiet when officers arrived.

 4:01 a.m., officers investigate noise in the 1800 block of Milton. A 31-year-old Big Rapids woman was cited for loud noise.  

 4:03 a.m., officers investigate a Fraud in the 300 block of S. State. A 50-year-old Idlewild man told a cabbie he had no money to pay for his cab ride, when he knew he didn't. Also, he had the Michigan State Police called earlier on him (outside the city) because he told another cabbie the same thing. Officers lodged the man at the Mecosta County Jail.

 4:31 a.m., officers do an area check in the 400 block of S. Stewart for subjects throwing firecrackers at the callers house. Subjects were gone when officers arrived and could not be located.

Saturday April 10, 2010

 12:23 p.m., officers handle a civil dispute complaint at the station. The incident took place at Mitchell Creek Park involving a child exchange.

 12:46 p.m., officers do an area check in the 400 block of Third St.

 1:09 p.m., officers do an area check at Winter and Oak. GOA

 10:07 p.m., A seventeen year old Big Rapids man was arrested for prowling. He was found by the caller in the bushes out behind a residence in the 300 block of S. Michigan Ave. Officers apprehended the man on scene. The same man was also accused of impersonating a police officer the previous night by the complainant. The complaint was forwarded to the Mecosta County Prosecutor's Office for review.

 11:36 p.m., officers investigate a civil domestic case in the 700 block of Marion.

 2:10 a.m., officer report to the scene of an assault and battery in the 100 block of S. Michigan.

 4:20 a.m., officer assist another department with a juvenile runaway.

Sunday April 11, 2010

 11:43 a.m., officers handle a harassment complaint in the 300 block of Morrison. This was the second complaint in two months and will be turned over for charges.

 1:25 a.m., officers investigate a Breaking and Entering complaint in the 600 block of Warren. The incident took place the night before. 

 1:36 a.m., officers are called to an Assault/obstruct case in the 100 block of Linden. A 21-year-old Big Rapids women was arrested for Disorderly and Obstruct. A possible Assault is still under investigation.

 2:42 p.m., officers respond to a Trespass complaint in the 100 block of Maple. A 24-year-old man was arrested and two others were cited.

 4:59 p.m., A Domestic was reported in the 1300 block of Catherine.

 11:17 p.m., officers investigate a Larceny that was reported in the 900 block of Mechanic.

 1:33 officers respond to a Noise complaint in the 1300 block of Catherine.
