City Officials Or City Crooks ?

 HOUSTON Texas - Two former City of Brookshire Officials have pleaded guilty to bribery. 42 year old Keith Allen Woods a former Mayer, and 56 year old former Department of Public Works Director Henry Anthony Cheney pleaded guilty to conspiracy to solicit, demand and accept bribe money or kickbacks from a local contractor in exchange for the awarding of city contracts.

 Around June of 2005 Woods and Cheney begun working together in a scam to use their political power in the city of Brookshire to commit Federal Programs Fraud involving transactions in the neighborhood of $13,250.

 According to the United States Attorney's Office a conviction for conspiracy to violate Federal Programs Fraud carries a penalty of imprisonment of not more than five years and/or a fine not to exceed $250,000.

 Woods and Cheney were brought up on a 6-count indictment on Jan. 17, 2008, they are scheduled to be sentenced on May 30, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Harmon.

 They both will remain on bond pending their sentencing. The case was investigated by agents of the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Wright and Larry Eastepp.
