NEWARK, N.J. – Jake J. Brahm, of Wauwatosa Wisconsin is scheduled for sentencing on June 5, 2008 he remains free on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond. He appeared in court before U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares in Newark on the mourning of Feb. 28, 2008 where he pleaded guilty to one count of willfully conveying false information indicating that seven stadiums "Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland, Cleveland and New York City" would be attacked by terrorists with weapons of mass destruction and this would take place on October 22, 2006.
After a federal criminal Complaint and arrest warrant had been issued for Brahm he turned himself in to U.S. Marshal’s in Milwaukee on Oct. 20, 2006, he was indicted on Feb. 28, 2007. Brahm faces a maximum prison term of five years and a fine of $250,000.
The message Brahm posted said that bombs would be delivered by trucks and that the death toll would approach 100,000 and countless other fatalities would later occur as a result from radioactive fallout. Brahm also wrote that the stadium explosions would be the work of Osama bin Laden as “America’s Hiroshima” and that global conflicts would erupt in their wake.
Everything that Jake Brahm posted on the net was a Hoax. But Brahm’s messages caused a significant mobilization of law enforcement, public safety and security resources. According to U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie “This was the Internet version of yelling fire in a crowded theater, but to a much wider audience,” Brahm admitted composing and posting the messages about 40 times throughout September and October 2006.
