Man Who Walked Away From Sheriff Honor Camp Was Captured

 Kent County MI - On September 11, 2008, 19 year old Derek Allen Guyton, walked away from the Sheriff's Honor Camp on 16 mile Rd., in Spencer Township.

 According to a press release from the Kent County Sheriff's Department, Guyton was serving a six month sentence for fleeing and eluding the police.

 Around 5:00pm Guyton approached a woman who was sitting on her front porch, in the 13000 block of 17 mile rd., after telling the woman he had a gun, Guyton forced the woman and her two children into the family car and left.

 Derek Allen Guyton dropped the woman and her two children off, unharmed in the city of Grand Rapids and fled the area in her 1996 Green Pontiac Grand Am. The car was later found by the police in Grand Rapids.

 The next day on September 12, 2008, Around 11:30am, Guyton was captured by the
at an address at the York Creek Apartments in Alpine Township. He was taken to the Kent County Jail and charged with 1 count of escape custody, 3 counts of unlawful imprisonment and 1 count of larceny of a motor vehicle.
