February 1st, 2012 ShareEvart MI News - An Osceola County woman has been sentenced today in Federal Court to 30-years in federal prison for producing images of child pornography. According to US Attorny Donald Davis, 32-year-old Andrea Marie Mast from Evart MI, was ordered to pay $6,780 in restitution, and serve the remainder of her life on supervised release, if she lives long enough to be released from prison. US District Court Judge Janet Neff presided over the sentencing of Mast; as she imposed the 30-year-sentence, she expressed dismay, and said: "I'm almost at a loss for words – our kids look to us for safety." "There is no excuse," and added, "As a society we have a responsibility to protect our children." The case began on December 28th, 2012, when the Evart Police Department discovered that Andrea Mast had taken sexually explicit photos of a 7-year-old girl, and sent them by email to a Mr. Timothy Sims in Mecosta County Michigan. The crime took place in November of 2010. Davis said the sexual abuse also entailed Mast performing a sex act with Sims while the 7 year-old was present. On May 6, 2011, Mast was convicted in Osceola County Court of taking sexually explicit pictures of the 7-year-old in 2006. For this she was sentenced to 7-years and 11-months to 20-years. On September 23rd, 2011, Mast pleaded guilty to federal charges relating to her producing sexually explicit images in November of 2010. Her 30-year federal sentence will run concurrently with the state sentence.
