Twenty four year old Michael James Carpenter of Big Rapids has been serving a two to four year sentence at an Adrian Michigan prison for possessing "child sexually abusive material". On June 23, 2008 Carpenter was brought from prison to a court in Mecosta County where he was sentenced to six and a half to 20 years in prison for using a computer to try and sexually abuse children. As part of his plea agreement charges of using a computer to commit a crime were dropped.
