49th Circuit Court Of Mecosta County - On Thursday September 16, 2009, about 9:15 a.m., Jonathan Joseph Good appeared in court wearing shackles and jail fatigues, to be sentenced for the 25 felony charges that a jury found him guilty of on Thursday August 27, 2009.
Jonathan Good spent about two hours arguing about the score points of his sentencing guidelines. Good also argued that he was being over charged for restitution, that was recommended by the prosecution. He did not feel that he should have to pay restitution to the State of Michigan and to his victims.
One of Good's victims, Michael Korpal addressed the court and said that since their ordeal with Jonathan Good, his wife has trouble sleeping at times and has trouble being home alone. Korpel also said that he wakes up at two or three o'clock in the morning sometimes, to check the windows and look outside to see if anyone is out there. Korpal said, "to think someone who does not even know us wanted us dead". Korpal also told the court how he had to have windows replaced and blood cleaned from the carpeting. After telling the court about the serious injuries that his wife Teresa suffered from gun shot wounds. Korpal said, "he has no respect for human life and should be sentenced to the maximum".
Jonathan Good then addressed the court and maintained his innocents, saying that there would be another trial because of the unfairness that he received from the prosecution and the court.
Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy told Jonathan Good that his rights had been respected and it was now his turn to play a role in the case. The Judge then began reading the 25 felony counts and imposing a sentence for each count ranging from eleven years to life. Good was taking notes as his sentences were being read to him and showed little emotion.
