Thirty-five-year-old Quinn Lee Rasmussen from Newaygo was sentenced to 9-months in jail for a 3rd offense of "Operating While Intoxicated." Rasmussen will pay fines of $1628.00 and spend 3-years on probation.
Twenty-one-year-old Joseph John Benson from Big Rapids was sentenced to 5-months and 15-days in jail for "Larceny From A Building." (stold cash from a building) Benson received 139-days of jail credit. He will pay $2928.00 in fine and spend three-years on probation.
Twenty-three-year-old Dante Maurice-Marshaund Brown from Big Rapids pleaded guilty to one count of "Forgery," one count of "Uttering and Publishing" was dismissed. Brown was accused of writing some bad checks at Dominoes Pizza for around $35.00. He might be sentenced on March 22, 2010.
Fifty-three-year-old Jerome Smyth Ross from Detroit was sentenced to 5-months in jail for "Weapons - Firearms - Possession by Felon." Ross has a prier conviction of "Arson-Dwelling House." He was also given $378.00 in fines.
Thirty-seven-year-old Howard Louis Kadwell from Hersey was sentenced to 5-months and 15-days in jail for "Breaking and Entering a Building with Intent." (a warehouse on Northland Dr.) Kadwell will pay $378.00 in fines and spend 12-months on probation.

Thirty-eight-year-old Samuel Gilbert Conley from Rodney pleaded "No Contest" to a charge of "Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd Degree" (Person Under 13). The prosecutors's Office is recommending a 3-to-15-year-sentence for Conley, who might be sentenced on March 22, 2010. |

Thirty-seven-year-old Etta Jane Grayer from Big Rapids pleaded guilty to one charge of "Retail Fraud - First Degree" (shoplifting at Wal-mart). Grayer might be sentenced on April 5, 2010.

On Friday February 19, 2010, the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office reported that 17-year-old Allen Thatcher from Barryton was arrested and charged with two counts of "Breaking and Entering."
On Tuesday February 23, 2010, the Sheriff's Office Reported that Thatcher was arraigned again for another residential "Breaking and Entering" charge, and two "Larceny from an Automobile" charges.
Sheriff Detectives believe that Thatcher and a crew of other suspects are responsible for a string of robberies in the Canadian Lakes area, and that more charges will be filed against Thatcher and other crew members as more information is gathered. |
