49th Circuit Court Of Mecosta County
Forty-three-year-old Wesley Lawrence Ward from Big Rapids pleaded guilty as charged to a 3rd offense of "Operating While Intoxicated." The Prosecutor's office is recommending day-to-day jail credit for Ward to enter an in-patient treatment program. Ward may also have the opportunity to serve some of his jail time on a tether. There might be a sentencing held for Ward on April 12, 2010.
Fifty-six-year-old Val Edward Stokely from Big Rapids pleaded guilty to a charge of "Controlled Substance - Possession (Cocaine, Heroin or Another Narcotic) Less than 25-grams." A Marijuana charge was dismissed in Stokely's case, and there is a chance that he might be sentenced on April 2, 2010.
Twenty-six-year-old Paul Derek Hanley from Stanwood pleaded guilty to a charge of "Manufacturing Marijuana." There may be a sentencing for Hanley on April 12, 2010.
Fifty-one-year-old Charles Edward Bailey Jr. from Big Rapids was sentenced to 4-months and 15-days in jail for a charge of "Criminal Sexual Conduct - Fourth Degree." Bailey who pleaded no-contest to the crime back on January 9, 2010, will have to pay $628.00 in fines, spend 60-months on probation and will have to register as a sex offender until the year of 2035.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alicia Sue Brown from Big Rapids was sentenced to 5-months and 15-days in jail for a 3rd offense of "Operating While Intoxicated." Brown will have to pay $1003.00 in fines and spend 36-months on probation.

Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Scott Hopkins who was recently spending time in the Clare County Jail was sentenced to 16-months to 5-years in prison for "Larceny - $1000.00 or more but less than $20,000.00." According to a court document Hopkins stole four ATV's that belonged to Lakeside Motorsports in Mecosta. Hopkins who has a past criminal history of "Larceny" and "Drug" charges was ordered by the court to pay $16,415.65 in fines and restitution. |
Twenty-six-year-old Adam Matthew Williams from Harrison MI. was sentenced to 6-months in jail for "Larceny - $1000.00 or more but less than $20,000.00." Williams was also accused of stealing four ATV's belonging to Lakeside Motorsports in Mecosta. In another case file Williams was given a 6-month jail sentence for "Breaking and Entering a Building with Intent." (a storage shed on 70th Avenue) He was also ordered to pay $16021.25 in fines and restitution along with spending 36-months on probation.
