Dowagiac MI News - On January 16th, around 2:48 AM, an alarm was sounded at the Hales Hardware on M-51 South in Pokagon Township.
According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, someone had broke into the hardware, and made off with numerous handguns.
Deputies say tips to the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and evidence obtained by Sheriff's investigators led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man, Jeffery Eugene Roetzel from Dowagiac MI.
Roetzel was arraigned in the 4th District Court on 46 separate felony counts such as Breaking & Entering, Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000.00, several firearm larcenies, weapon offenses, larceny in a building, and numerous felony firearm charges. He also is facing habitual offender fourth offense charges.
Roetzel's bond was set at $300,000.00.
Deputies say as of today, the weapons have yet to be recovered, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in conjunction with the National Shooting Sports Foundation is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000.00 for any information leading to the recovery of the firearms and/or the arrest and conviction of any other individuals responsible.
