On Friday, February 3rd, a Crawford County Sheriff's Deputy, along with a Grayling Police Officer, and Child Protective Service workers, were trying to serve a court order to a man who was armed with a knife.
The Sheriff's Office said that during the incident, the Grayling Police Officer and the CPS workers were assaulted by the man. In order to contain the situation, the office discharged his firearm and the man was killed.
The case has now been turned over to the Michigan State Police, and they are investigating the incident. The police officer involved in the shooting is on administrative leave until the investigation is completed.
The suspect's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
