Romulus MI News - Arco is a dog who once had a prominent job working at the White House for the Capitol Police as a bomb sniffing dog. But after his retirement the German Shepherd while living with his new owner in Virginia found himself in trouble for killing a neighbor's elderly cat.
According to the Examiner News the retired bomb sniffing dog wound up on death row at the George County Animal Shelter in Virginia.
From there he made his way to being adopted by a rehabilitation camp for dogs in Arizona called Rescued Helpers Inc. where he lived for about six months.
After his release a couple of days ago, he was sent off on a plane to live with his new owner Sheri Schuman in Toledo Ohio who told Fox 2 News in Detroit that she adopted the former White House bomb sniffing dog named Arco from a facebook ad.
But when 6-year-old Arco arrived at the Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus MI, he had other plans.
After Arco was let out of his cage for a bathroom break shortly before midnight, the former White House bomb sniffing dog saw his chance, slipped out of his collar, and made a break into the streets of Romulus. During the escape, Arco allegedly bit two officers who tried to apprehend him. One of the officers required several stitches on his hand.
A press release was issued calling Arco dangerous, telling the public to call 911, and not to approach the former White House bomb sniffing dog.
Later, in the afternoon, around 1:30 PM, Arco was cornered in a wooded field area and captured by animal control officers in Romulus.
A Fox 2 News crew followed close behind as former White House bomb sniffing dog Arco was taken to the Romulus Animal Shelter where he will spend 10-days in quarantine.
Despite making several attempts to contact her, Vice President and Founder of Rescued Helper Inc., Nadine Karsevar sadly failed to respond to Big Rapids .biz with a comment about Arco the former bomb sniffing dog.
Karsevar did publicly post on her facebook page that she would be leaving Arizona, and going to Detroit so she could be with Arco. Karsevar said "Arco has been through a major trauma."
At this point, it does not appear that Arco will be charged with any crimes during his stay in Michigan. The former White House Bomb sniffing dog will probably be released to his new owner after his 10-day quarantine.
